A new library-themed whiskey and cigar bar headed to San Antonio
Known for their innovative bar and restaurant concepts like Toro Kitchen & Bar, the classic art-centric cocktail establishment Bunker Mixology, and more, the Gusto Group is back with yet another unique bar that's set to open this summer.
Books — A Whiskey Society will take over the space once home to Toro Stone Oak. Gusto Group CEO and co-founder Gerardo de Anda revealed to MySA that the Books concept will be stylized in the classic fashion of New York libraries.
Deeming Books — A Whiskey Society an, "ode to old New York," de Anda added that the bar's exterior will mimic the front of a classic New York style library. Bibliophiles will love the books lining the walls inside, with the interior intended to evoke the peaceful and elegant feel of a large library.
Whiskey and cigar enthusiasts can partake in a carefully curated selection of scotches, bourbons and rye whiskeys. The world-class cigars will be found in a custom-built humidor located inside the bar's premises. There will also be a piano onsite — so yes, there will be live music to add to the ambience.
Not a whiskey fan? Not to worry – the Gusto Group will still have cocktails available at Books — A Whiskey Society. There will also be gourmet pomme fritters and mussels with specialty sauces available for purchase throughout the night. And if you're still famished you can always just walk to Toro Stone Oak's newest location. The restaurant is simply changing suite numbers.
Instead of finding Toro Stone Oak at 115 N. Loop 1604 E., #1105, San Antonio, TX 78232, you can find the Spanish-centric restaurant at Suite #1100. As of January 12, you can still grab Toro's signature paella and sangria at the original suite number, with the move officially happening this February.
So by the time Books — A Whiskey Society opens, guests can enjoy dinner and drinks, all in one area.
Aiming for a summer 2024 debut, de Anda emphasized the aim of Books — A Whiskey Society.
