The folks behind Toro Kitchen + Bar and Cuishe Cocina Mexicana has been staying busy with a hefty expansion plan that includes at least four new restaurant and bar concepts opening in San Antonio this year. One such business has already opened its custom-made vault door to customers as of April 14, with a unique aesthetic that combines opulence with art.

Local hospitality group Gusto Group USA's latest endeavor is The Bunker Mixology, which is located in a subterranean space at 229 E. Houston St. that once housed now-defunct concepts like Jet-setters and The Last Word. The Bunker Mixology is part lounge, part speakeasy, and fully underground, giving some heft to the bar's name.

The vibe is basically "it's the end of the world" but make it fancy, with old-timey decor, including a 1952 MG and replicas of classic artworks, and a modern bar program. Think if The Great Gatsby was set in a post-apocalyptic future, where the party-goers chat about human history over artfully crafted cocktails.

Keeping with the lavish theme, The Bunker Mixology offers a high dollar drink called Amour Éternal, which comes with Louis XIII Cognac, artisanal honey, freshly-squeezed lemon juice, and a single rose petal. Oh, and it's served in a crystal Champagne flute with a Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace. The bar sold one of the $6,000 cocktails on its opening night, according to a news release.
